Bettye Lavette, 3-time Grammy nominee and 2016 winner of Best Soul Blues female artist, will be performing a FREE show at Canan Commons on Saturday, July 8 as part of the 2017 Muncie Three Trails Music Series.
Muncie's own Jennie Devoe will be the special guest opener.
Ms. Lavette, in addition to her Grammy nominations, is also a W.C. Handy award winner, winner of the prestigious Pioneer Award from the Rhythm & Blues Foundation, and winner of numerous awards from the Blues Music Association.

Bluegrass "supergroup" The Earls of Leicester featuring Jerry Douglas will be performing a FREE show on Friday, August 4 at Canan Commons as part of the 2017 Muncie Three Trails Music Series. The Earls' eponymous debut won the Grammy for Bluegrass Album of the Year, and they have also won many accolades from the International Bluegrass Music Association, including Entertainers of the Year in both 2015 and 2016, instrumental Group of the Year, Album of the Year, Dobro Player of the Year (Jerry Douglas), Male Vocalist of the Year (Shawn Camp), Banjo Player of the Year (Charlie Cushman) and Bass Player of the Year (Barry Bales). Latin Grammy nominees Flor De Toloache will be performing a FREE show as part of the 2017 Muncie Three Trails Music Series at Canan Commons on Saturday, August 26. Flor De Toloache, an all-female Mariachi band, are pioneers in updating Mariachi music for contemporary audiences. They have performed on renowned stages throughout the U.S. and Europe, and have had their performances praised by Rolling Stone, New York Times, Wall Street Journal, GQ, and the New Yorker. Poley Lafarge, who drew the biggest crowd in the Muncie Three Trails Music Series' history last year, will return to our stage at Canan Commons in 2017 on Saturday, September 23 for another FREE show. Mr. Lafarge records for the leading American roots music label Rounder Records, and he is a two-time winner of Americana Album of the Year. His music is an ecletic mix of early jazz, hot swing, ragtime, country blues, folk, and Americana. Bluegrass greats Balsam Range will perform in a FREE, all ages outdoor concert as part of the Muncie Three Trails Music Series. The concert will take place at Canan Commons in downtown Muncie, IN on Friday, July 13th at 7 PM. Flatland Harmony Experiment will open the show.
Balsam Range is one of the most decorated bluegrass groups of the last decade, receiving 8 nominations from the IBMA in 2017 alone, including winning the award for Album of the Year and being nominated for Entertainer of the Year, Instrumental Group of the Year, and Vocal Group of the Year.

Campbell Brothers In Concert 7pm @ Canan Commons 500 S. Walnut St
African-American Sacred Steel Gospel legends the Campbell Brothers will perform in a FREE, all ages outdoor concert as part of the Muncie Three Trails Music Series. The concert will take place at Canan Commons in downtown Muncie, IN on Saturday, July 28th at 7 PM. The Freetown Village Singers from the Madame Walker Theatre in Indianapolis will open the show.
The Campbell Brothers have received widespread recognition for their work presenting African-American Sacred Steel music, with pedal-steel guitarist Chuck Campbell receiving a National Heritage Fellowship recipient for his contributions in preserving the heritage of African-American gospel music. Folk/country duo and New West recording artists The Secret Sisters will perform with full band in a FREE, all ages outdoor concert as part of the Muncie Three Trails Music Series. The concert will take place at Canan Commons in downtown Muncie, IN on Saturday, September 1st at 7 PM. Modern folk duo Von Strantz will open the show.
The Secret Sisters have shared the stage with the likes of Bob Dylan, Willie Nelson, and Paul Simon among many others. You Don't Own Me Anymore, the group's excellent third long-player, was nominated for a Grammy in 2017 for Best Folk Album.

Flor De Toloache In Concert 7pm @ Canan Commons 500 S. Walnut St
All-female Mariachi band Flor De Toloache will perform in a FREE, all ages outdoor concert as part of the Muncie Three Trails Music Series. The concert will take place at Canan Commons in downtown Muncie, IN on Thursday, September 20th at 7 PM. Dance troupes Anderson Ballet Folklorico and Ballet Folklorico Mosaicos will open the show with traditional Mexican dances.
Flor De Toloache are pioneers in updating Mariachi music for contemporary audiences. Their work has won acclaim in many quarters. The group's self-titled debut album was nominated for a Latin Grammy for Best Ranchero/Mariachi album, and their 2017 second release, Las Caras Lindas, won that award.
