The Foundation Fighting Blindness (FFB) is offering a free Ask the Experts Seminar to help those with retinal diseases such as age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and retinitis pigmentosa better understand these diseases and provide access to information and resources related to living with vision loss. The seminar will address disease inheritance, other risk factors, advances in overcoming these diseases, and related topics.

Her Story: Mapping Indiana Women's History

This program will tell the story of women in Indiana’s bicentennial history using maps from the Ball State University Libraries’ GIS Research and Map Collection. The maps will highlight important women in the state’s history with a special emphasis on east central Indiana and issues affecting education, employment equality, women in government and leadership, sports, and healthcare issues. Historic photographs and diaries from the Library’s Digital Media Repository will also be included.
This workshop is free and open to the public. Pre-registration is recommended and available here.

Kids can read to a shelter pet, sculpt a clay bat or butterfly, create an upcycled herb planter, and add a piece to a community bottle cap mural. MYP January ProLunch: Brushing Up Your Resume for the New Year

Cost: $15.00 (includes lunch) Muncie Young Professionals will be kicking off 2017 with their next ProLunch on Tuesday, January 17th. The focus of this ProLunch will be resumes and keeping them in tip-top shape.
Shelia Spisak (SPHR), Director of People Development for Muncie Power Products, will draw on her experience to share tips and tricks that will make each resume shine. Attendees will learn the top 3-5 resume mistakes among young professionals and the top 3-5 ways to make a resume shine. They will also walk away with an understanding of why it’s important to keep a resume up-to-date even when not job-seeking. Finally, attendees will gain an HR expert’s perspective about why a resume alone isn’t enough to land a new job or advance a career.

Kelly Shrock, President of The Community Foundation of Muncie and Delaware County, will be providing attendees with practical tips to ensure that emails, voicemails, letters and more are clear, concise and action oriented. After this presentation, attendees should have an understanding of why writing and speaking clearly matters for young professionals who want to succeed in the workplace and advance their careers. They will also be exposed to practical ways to use business communication tools to move people to action and produce results. Finally, attendees will be given examples of how they can clean up their communications for maximum impact.
