Learn about these fascinating migratory insects, what they symbolize and why we should care. Includes youth-friendly crafts and a story corner suitable for most ages. Families and children from the community are welcome to attend.
This event is hosted at the Rinard Orchid Greenhouse, located in Christy Woods on the Ball State University campus, across the street from IU Ball Memorial Hospital and adjacent to the Marilyn K. Glick Center for Glass.

Historic Beech Grove Cemetery Tour 3:30pm to 7:30pm @ Beech Grove Cemetery 1400 W Kilgore Ave
Cost: $10 Learn more about Muncie’s rich history by taking a guided tour through a portion of historic Beech Grove cemetery.
Enjoy complimentary cider and cookies at the fountain (we will also have hot dogs, soft drinks and chips for sale) and view a special display of local artifacts inside the gothic chapel.

If you are attending the Enchanted Luminaria at Minnetrista, a Muncie Indiana Transit System (MITS) Trolley service will be available from 6-9:30 p.m. with drop-off/pick-up locations on University Ave. at the Greenhouse/Glick Center and Minnetrista.

Ages: Going to First Thursday in Downtown Muncie? Then join the Projection Scavenger Hunt created by PlySpace and the Muncie Arts and Culture Council! In preparation for That One Film Festival coming up on September 11th and 12th, PlySpace recently hosted filmmaker Karissa Hahn, the first virtual resident and That One Film Festival juror, for a workshop on film printing on a home-office printer. The work created during this two-part workshop will be projected at multiple exterior locations in Downtown Muncie between 8:00 PM and 10:00 PM on First Thursday, September 3rd. Viewers can follow the online scavenger hunt map (at www.plyspace.org/projectionhunt) to try to find all of the films! The scavenger hunt is self-guided walking tour. Visiting Artist Lecture for PlySpace Resident Fellow Natan Diacon-Furtado 6pm @ Virtual Event
Join PlySpace (plyspace.org) and Ball State University School of Art for the visiting artist lecture for PlySpace Resident Fellow Natan Diacon-Furtado. Diacon-Furtado will speak about his work and answer questions about his practice and time spent in Muncie at the PlySpace Residency, a program of the Muncie Arts and Culture Council (munciearts.org).
This event will be held on Thursday, October 29th at 6 PM-7PM via Ball State School of Art Live (https://sites.bsu.edu/artlive/). A live Q&A will follow the lecture. Attendees can view the lecture for free.
Over the last 3 weeks, Diacon-Furtado has worked with 2D Foundation students at Ball State University School of Art in a virtual collaboration. Our Patterns, a project spanning 6 separate classes and including over 100 student participants who developed pattern-based works to create a community “quilt” of patterns, visible on Instagram (@ourpatterns_Muncie). The public is encouraged to follow the progress of this project online, which will culminate in a projected exhibition on the exterior of the PlySpace building on First Thursday, November 5th.
Diacon-Furtado is an internationally recognized and award-winning Brazilian and American artist and designer who has exhibited globally in venues including the Venice Biennale of Architecture and the Buenos Aires International Biennial of Architecture. His design work has been featured in numerous publications including The New York Times and Dwell magazine, and he is a founding partner of the New Orleans based arts-focused design studio opossum (itsopossumtime.com).
PlySpace is a program of the Muncie Arts and Culture Council in collaboration with Ball State University School of Art and Sustainable Muncie Corporation, supported in part by a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts.
