Every Sunday, egos are crushed and legends are born at Doc's Sunday Trivia Brawl. Come and play for free, solo or with a team, and show off your command of all knowledge trivial. Win, and split up a a $50 Doc's gift certificate on booze, food, or merchandise. Every game is six rounds of trivia questions on a wide variety of topics in pop culture, science, history, and current events. Every tenth question is part of our inadvertent quest to discriminate against the deaf, and has players listening to a song and attempting to identify its title, band, and album. The sixth round is a special visual aid round in which the blind are instead at an unfair disadvantage. Team signup starts at 9pm, and unless we go into a Sudden Death Lightning Bloodfeud Overtime Round (of Death), the game tends to wrap up at about 11pm.Dec 12, 2011

"Though Baldi figured out pretty quickly how to deliver his hooks in a variety of styles (see: the post-punk squall of "I Am Rooftop" or the AM-radio twinkle of "Strummin'") his strength lies in always giving straight-ahead pop mechanics license to spazz out. Verses boast sharp fangs, choruses beg repeating, and everything is presented with throaty conviction."
-Pitchfork Media
////////////////\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\////////////////\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\
"Whatever his recording budget, every cut has been spring-loaded with pop smarts, and in July, Baldi took some new ideas into the studio with producer (and Shellac frontman) Steve Albini in Chicago — a move akin to sending your songbook to the weight room for a summer."
-Spin- Funktion and DJ Turtle Matt 10:00pm to 12:42pm @ Be Here Now
Ages: 18+ MICHIGAN GROOVE ACT FUNKTION IS BACK IN TOWN PERFORMING WITH DJ TURTLE MATT!!! Come out for a groovin' night of soulful tunes and get your dance on!!!
Funktion (Jam, Funk, Groove)
Kalamazoo, MI

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e0HKAUug3Q8 (High Quality)
http://www.reverbnation.com/funktionkalamazoo
No matter what frequency your eardrums vibrate at, the sonic eruption from Kalamazoo based Funktion will dose them at the right waves per second. It could be the silky smooth R&B that gets you. Or maybe it’s the cool island dub rhythms that grab your ears. Then again it might be the rowdy hip-hop flavor that seizes your attention. But if none of that snatches your marbles, the unhinged, guitar-fueled fireball of funk will surely do the trick. Any way you slice it, if you’ve got a pair of ears, Funktion will unwrap something for them to chew on.
But don’t show up to a live show unless you’ve come to get down; this stuff is additive-free, high-octane dance fuel. And due to the fact that Funktion’s sole mission in life is to make you shake your booty, trying to stand still might cause you a few problems. You see, the human body simply isn’t equipped to deal with this much raw musical energy in the stationary position. The only way to withstand this tidal wave of sound is to get loose, get down with your bad self, and feel that groove out on the floor. Ride that funky wave out, because the only thing that could bring it to an end is last call. But then there’s always the next night’s last call in another city just down the road…
