Cost: $10 general public (free for Ball State students) The Indianapolis Baroque Orchestra will perform “Music at the House of the Medici” in Sursa Hall at 7:30 pm. The performance is in conjunction with the spring special exhibition Beyond the Medici celebrating Italian Baroque art at the David Owsley Museum of Art. IBO's mission is to perform and promote music of the 17th and 18th centuries using period instruments and historically informed performance practices. “Music at the House of the Medici” will celebrate the sounds of Florence, Italy, in the 17th and early 18th centuries.
DOMA (2021 W. Riverside Ave) will remain open from 5-7 p.m. on March 28 so visitors can enjoy a free public reception and view the exhibition prior to the 7:30 p.m. performance at Sursa Hall (1809 W. Riverside Avenue). Ticket holders are also invited to a pre-concert chat by Dr. Murray Steib, professor of music history at Ball State, at 6:45 p.m. in Sursa Hall. Beyond the Medici and “Music at the House of the Medici” are made possible by Ball State’s Arts Alive Series, presented by the University’s College of Fine Arts.
