    A special edition of First Thursday, Brink of Summer ArtsWalk, presented by The Community Foundation of Muncie & Delaware County, celebrates the arts culture in Muncie!

    Head DWNTWN to enjoy:

    Flower Hour:
    During ArtsWalk, be sure to also take on Flower Hour!
    Explore DWNTWN during Brink of Summer ArtsWalk and collect flowers from 10 different locations to create a beautiful, custom bouquet.
    Tickets are $20 and can be purchased at downtownmuncie.org/flowerhour, from a participating sponsor, or at the event (while supplies last).

    Money raised through this event will support DWNTWN event programming and development opportunities.

    111 Arts Gallery will be displaying art by Jolie ruin and Jme Noggle as well as a pop-up art sale with tons of collages, drawings, bargain screen printed t-shirts, embroidered patches, and more!

    Cornerstone’s community artists and makers will display and sell their work in the Colonnade Room/first floor at Cornerstone, Resident Artist Debra Gindhart Dragoo is coordinating this event again and has lured several local artists to participate during the past four First Thursday celebrations at Cornerstone. The Colonnade Room will also display the works of the winners and contestants of the YAE competition announced May 21. This is county-wide contest among youthful artists. Dragoo’s brother, well-known flautist and photographer Larry Gindhart of Indianapolis will perform. Dragoo’s brother, well-known flautist and photographer Larry Gindhart of Indianapolis will perform. 5-8pm Cornerstone Center for the Arts also presents their artist-in-residence, Debra Gindhart Dragoo, who shares her love of art and repurposing. Her artist mantra is “Real Babes Recycle, RE-use, RE-claim, RE-new" this mantra moves through her Green Glam Studio jewelry. So if you have admired her style come and get your own Green Glam Studio jewelry collection. 5-8pm Colonnade Room

    The Muncie Pride Network presents the 2023 Pride Celebration at the Fickle Peach for the Brink of Summer Artswalk! There will be Drag Bingo hosted by Ida Kay and the event will go from 7-10pm.

    Gordy Fine Art and Framing Company will celebrate from 5-8 pm with a reception for the gallery’s annual Summer Invitational. The exhibit features work by Charles Knox and Tom Steiner. Light refreshments will be served and the public is invited to attend. A brief program at 6:15 will highlight both artists. Knox will discuss his intricate color pencil drawings and Steiner will speak about his new body of photographs. The exhibit will remain on view through August 26.

    Grace Episcopal Church

    All are welcome to an organ concert at Grace Episcopal Church, 300 S. Madison, Muncie (corner Adams & Madison–next to iconic McDonald’s sign). Fr. Paul Jacobson, pastor of the church and accomplished organist, will perform beginning at 7:00. The program and reception following are free and open to the public.

    High Street UMC is holding a slow cooker competition and is inviting the community to help in selecting the winner. Tasting in the church parlor starts at 5:00! Outdoor games for children and youth activities will be taking place outside the church. Come inside and enjoy the stained-glass windows and other artwork in the church. 

    IDIA Lab
    119 W. Charles St.
    Ball State University’s IDIA Lab will be exhibiting an interactive augmented reality artwork. The virtual experience appears automatically without an app, by pointing your phone at a QR code decal placed on the sidewalk somewhere on Walnut street. Bring your phone, explore and look down!

    Madjax Muncie

    Jean McCauley is an award winning artist in pastels and oils, and has been a member of the Muncie Artists Guild for more than twenty years. Jean’s artwork will be on display during the month of June at the following locations: Northwest Bank, Old National Bank, Parlour at Hazelwood Hair Salon, Rosebud Coffee House, and Vera Mae’s Bistro.

    The Muncie Makers Market is happy to be a part of Muncie’s First Thursday community events, a popular local monthly tradition, going many years back, with all sorts of vendors, artists, and entertainers set up throughout Downtown Muncie. June brings an extra special First Thursday, the Brink of Summer ArtsWalk - even bigger with lots more to do! Assuming good weather, the Muncie Makers Market will set up on the sidewalks by the corner of Walnut and Adams Streets for all of the 2023 First Thursday gatherings, and be open ‪to the public from 5-8pm. The Muncie Makers Market is a registered farmers market featuring handmade creations, homemade foods, and locally grown produce! All Vendors must register in advance.

    YART is a Yard Sale for Art, unlike any sale you’ve seen before! This community art sale, with a goal of making art affordable and accessible to everyone, will be held in conjunction with the 2023 Brink of Summer ArtsWalk on Thursday, June 1st, from 5-8p. You can find the huge Spring 2023 Muncie YART and LIVE music performances at Canan Commons, Muncie's great urban greenspace park and amphitheater by the roundabout on South Walnut Street. YART encourages interaction between Artists and the community, hoping to make Art more accessible, especially to those who think they cannot afford to buy Art for themselves and their homes. To this goal, all YART Art will be priced below $40! The last YART featured over 150 Artists!
