Foodie Friday

Canan Commons

Muncie Downtown Development Partnership and the Muncie Parks Department will host Foodie Fridays, at Canan Commons on Fridays from 11:00am-1:00pm.
Attendees are invited to spend their lunch time relaxing in the park with friends and family, enjoying the new park and weekly entertainment. Bring your own lunch, purchase a lunch from our on-site vendors or get lunch to go from one of our DWNTWN eateries. Some seating will be available. We will also have shady spots on the lawn for guests who would like to bring blankets or lawn chairs.
In addition to live music entertainment each week, a children’s activity will be provided.
Canan Commons is located in the 500 block of south Walnut Street near the roundabout and across the street from the YMCA and Muncie Music Center. Street parking is available and public parking lots are located throughout DWNTWN.

PlySpace Resident Fellow, artist Dave Rowe, will hold an open studio at Madjax on Friday, July 13th, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM. PlySpace studios are located on the second floor of the Madjax building.
Visitors are invited to learn more about PlySpace, check out the PlySpace studios, and explore the work Dave has created while in residence this summer. At 6:00 PM, the artist will discuss his work and his residency experience in an informal artist talk. Light refreshments will be served.
Dave Rowe is a sculptor, educator, and fabricator. He is currently an Assistant Professor in Sculptural Practices at the University of Nevada Las Vegas and holds a BFA from the University of Illinois at Urbana- Champaign and an MFA from Indiana University Bloomington.

- Tombaugh's Planet 6:30pm @ Charles W. Brown Planetarium 2000 West Riverside Avenue
In 1930, after years of searching, a Kansas farm boy discovered Planet X. This object was later named Pluto. This program tells of Clyde Tombaugh’s remarkable achievement and the amazing discoveries made when the New Horizons space probe beamed to Earth the first close-up images of this small frozen world.Best suitable for all ages 10+Planetarium Information:· Planetarium shows are free of charge. · No tickets or reservations are required, but plan to arrive early as seating is done on a first-come, first-serve basis. · We do our best to open doors 30 minutes before show time. · Shows run 45-60 minutes. · There is no food or drink allowed in the planetarium. · Children 17 years and under should be accompanied by an adult. · The Charles W. Brown Planetarium is located on the west end of the Cooper Science Complex, at 2000 W. - Balsam Range In Concert 7pm @ Canan Commons 500 S. Walnut St
Bluegrass greats Balsam Range will perform in a FREE, all ages outdoor concert as part of the Muncie Three Trails Music Series. The concert will take place at Canan Commons in downtown Muncie, IN on Friday, July 13th at 7 PM. Flatland Harmony Experiment will open the show.
Balsam Range is one of the most decorated bluegrass groups of the last decade, receiving 8 nominations from the IBMA in 2017 alone, including winning the award for Album of the Year and being nominated for Entertainer of the Year, Instrumental Group of the Year, and Vocal Group of the Year.
