The Biblical saga of Joseph and his coat of many colors comes to vibrant life in this delightful musical parable. Joseph, his father's favorite son, is a boy blessed with prophetic dreams. When he is sold into slavery by his jealous brothers and taken to Egypt, Joseph endures a series of adventures in which his spirit and humanity are continually challenged. He is purchased by Potiphar where thwarting advances from Potiphar's wife lands him in jail. When news of Joseph's gift to interpret dreams reaches the Pharaoh (wryly and riotously depicted as Elvis), Joseph is well on his way to becoming second in command. Eventually his brothers, having suffered greatly, unknowingly find themselves groveling at the feet of the brother they betrayed but no longer recognize. After testing their integrity, Joseph reveals himself leading to a heartfelt reconciliation of the sons of Israel. Set to an engaging cornucopia of musical styles, from country-western and calypso to bubble-gum pop and rock 'n' roll, this Old Testament tale emerges both timely and timeless.

  • The Two-Town Theater auditions for My Three Angels 6:30pm to 8:30pm @ Madjax Maker Force 514 East Jackson Street

The Two-Town Theater Company has announced auditions for “My Three Angels,” the company’s second production. Auditions are 1-4 p.m. Sunday at the New Castle-Henry County Library, 376 S. 15th St., New Castle. Auditions continue from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at Madjax, 514 E. Jackson St., Muncie.

“My Three Angels,” a comedy by Sam and Bella Spewak, is set at Christmastime in French Guiana in 1910. A family who runs a small shop is in dire straits because a mercenary uncle who owns the shop is arriving with intentions to close the business. Three inmates, trustees from Devil’s Island who are repairing the roof, assist the family with a series of unorthodox methods so that eventually, good triumphs over evil, romance flourishes and the shop remains intact.

The comedy was written in the 1950s and starred Walter Slezak in the role of Joseph, one of the three convicts. The play ran for over a year and a half on Broadway, a very good run for a non-musical. Since then, the play has been a staple for theaters across the country, especially during the holiday season.

There are roles for seven men and three women. The male roles require actors from their early 20s (one convict, the young lover, and a late arrival) and actors upward in age to include a father, a very difficult uncle and two other convicts. The roles for women are for one young woman in her late teens or early 20s, her mother and a busy shopper who could be any age.

Performances will be Dec. 7-10 at Madjax in Muncie and Dec. 13 and 15-17 at the New Castle Henry-County Public Library.
