Join Cornerstone Center for the Arts visual arts instructor, Lauren King, for Monthly Art Club on Wednesday, July 5 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Monthly Art Club offers the opportunity to express yourself creatively while connecting with other artists. In addition, all supplies are provided which allows you free reign of Cornerstone's art studio. 

July's Art Club will begin with an hour of demonstration/lesson focusing on artist Chuck Close who paints using the grid system to create realistic portraits followed by a few hours of open studio/creation time. 

Art Club is open to ages 14 and up and is just $10 per person which includes all supplies and instruction. Pre-registration is recommended but not required.

Join Cornerstone Center for Arts for First Thursday on July 6, 2017 for an opening reception and art show featuring the art of Wesley Nally. The show titled “Colors in the Life of an Artist” captures everyday life through the eyes of the artist depicted in a range of expressive colors. 

The collection explores a coming of age for Nally who has grown as an artist through his life experiences. Each piece in the show was created to provoke thought using colors chosen to symbolize various emotions. The connection between subject and color helps to express the feelings behind each piece. 

Nally is an Indiana native from Blackford County who studied art as a student and previously served as the resident cartoonist for the Bruins School Newspaper while at Blackford High School. He says that this collection has been “a lifetime coming and serves as his reintroduction to the world of art.” 

The opening reception of “Colors in the Life of an Artist” will take place on Thursday, July 6 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Cornerstone Art Gallery on the second floor of Cornerstone Center for the Arts. The show will be on display and open to the public throughout the month of July.

The Cornfed Derby Dames (CFDD) will conclude their seventh season at home on Saturday, July 8 at Gibson's Skating Arena, 2610 S. Mock Ave. 

Cornfed will host the Brewcity Bruisers of Milwaukee, Wisconsin in a double header versus their A and B teams. The Cornfed All-Stars will open the bout at 6 p.m. followed by the Muncie Missfits at approximately 8 p.m. 

The theme of the bout will be “Throwback Throwdown” which will celebrate the eras that each of the skaters were born in. Skaters and attendees both are encouraged to come dressed in the popular style of the year they were born. 

Doors open at 5 p.m. with tickets costing $12 per person the day of the game or $10 in advance through Brown Paper Tickets or from any Cornfed Derby Dame. College students are just $8 with an ID and children ages 10 and younger are free with the purchase of an adult ticket (limit two children). 

Snacks and non-alcoholic beverages are available at the concession stand. A portion of all bout proceeds in 2017 will be donated to Muncie OUTreach.

Get excited for the return of a Cornerstone favorite - the Flower Pot Fairy House Workshop. Let your imagination and creativity collide during this unique workshop. Students ages 4 through 6th grade will use a flower pot to build a mythical fairy house for your garden, backyard, porch, or window sill. 

All of your supplies are included in the registration fee. Children ages 4 - 6 must attend the workshop with an adult.

If you are planning a wedding in East Central Indiana, be sure to save the date for the 2017 PrimeTrust Federal Credit Union & Cornerstone Center for the Arts Wedding Showcase on Sunday, August 13. The event will be at Cornerstone in Downtown Muncie from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and will highlight the area’s best wedding vendors. Mr. Mouse Catering presents the Wedding Showcase with support from WLBC and WERK.

This is the premiere bridal show of the summer and is designed to streamline the wedding planning process. Attendees will have full access to all of Cornerstone’s rental facilities and will gain priceless knowledge and resources to help them in the wedding planning process. The area’s finest venues, caterers, florists, photographers, DJs, and more will be on hand to answer questions and book new clients. Admission to this event is $6 per person. Tickets and pre-registration will be available beginning in July.

Interested vendors, booth space is available starting at $150.
