Meridian’s 14th annual Fam Fest – Back-to-School– will be held from 1—5 pm on July 14 at our Meridian School Clinic site—Southside Middle School in Muncie.

This year will feature lots of fun activities, games, prizes, food, and FREE health screenings. We also will provide FREE back-to-school sports physicals and vaccines. Safety Town is back with a miniature version of Muncie teaching kids about traffic safety and how to be a safe citizen. During this multi-day event, children are encouraged to come dressed in their best magical faerie attire as they imagine and play in a magical faerie wonderland. Families can enjoy games, crafts, a theater show, live music and dancing, a bubble garden, and more throughout our enchanted Oakhurst Gardens. Kids and families are also encouraged to interact with the live characters, participate in our Faerie House Workshop, and enjoy some Faerie Tea.

Do you love board games? Join us for this fun and creative workshop where youth and adults will work together at making their own! You’ll learn what goes into making a good game, then design your own prototype using equipment in our Design Lab. Registration requires at least one youth and one adult. Families may register as a unit for up to 6 people.

Things are getting egg-citing at Minnetrista, and you’re invited to a Glass Easter Egg Hunt in Oakhurst Gardens. Grab your family and get ready to search the garden for your own piece of glass art to purchase. Don’t want to hunt for your egg? Come into the Ed Center for the Annual Spring Glass Sale in partnership with Ball State University Glass Guild.

FAMILY GAME DAY

Dice, cards, and spinners, oh my! This delightful and interactive workshop is designed to bring friends and families together for a day of fun, creativity, and bonding through the joy of games. Unleash your imagination and embark on a creative journey to design and conceptualize your own personalized board game or interactive activity.

From brainstorming game mechanics and crafting game boards to designing characters and game pieces, participants will have the freedom to let their creativity soar. Various materials, art supplies, and tools will be provided.

Participants will also be able to explore the Design Lab and learn about the different technologies available to create custom game pieces.

COST: $5 PER FAMILY DUE AT REGISTRATION

This workshop is recommended for adults or families. Youth aged 16 or older may register independently. Youth younger than 16 may register with an adult. This workshop is led by Educator in Residence Jenifer Pierce, a special education teacher at Northside Middle School.

All of our workshops and classes are led by professional makers, artists, entrepreneurs, educators and community partners. We strive to provide high-quality and unique learning experiences. Registration will close up to 72 hours prior to the start of the event to provide time for instructors to prepare.
