Free community eventFlags of Honor will be displayed from September 4–11 at Minnetrista. Experience a sea of red, white, and blue with friends and family as more than a thousand American flags adorn Minnetrista’s lawn beside the White River Greenway. In partnership with the Exchange Club of Muncie, Flags of Honor recognizes the service and sacrifice of many, including local veterans, current service personnel, fallen heroes, and all who wish to display their pride for our country. On September 11, at 5:30 p.m., America's Hometown Band will begin their pre-ceremony concert, followed by the closing ceremony at 6 p.m.

Just as the cold weather goes hand-in-hand with crockpots, canning jars frequently become countertop staples in times of uncertainty. Pulling from Minnetrista’s collection, this original exhibition will explore the history of crisis canning in America. The exhibition will explore how wars, pandemics, and economic struggles have transformed canning from an ordinary mode of cooking into a form of emergency planning. Through this exhibition, we will come to know the everyday heroes who fought for their families through the act of food preservation and how the world has shaped and reshaped their motivations over time.

Clearly Indigenous: Native Visions Reimagined in Glass 9am to 5pm @ Minnetrista Museum & Gardens Center Building, Gallery 3 1200 N Minnetrista Pkwy, Muncie, IN 47303
Cost: Included in General Admission Breaking the boundaries of what is deemed traditional Indigenous art, Clearly Indigenous: Native Visions Reimagined in Glass examines how Native artists reinterpret cultural narratives and designs. The two-pronged exhibition focuses on how Native artists have melded ancestral ways with new methods and materials, while also examining the historical narrative of how glass art came to Indian Country from a historical perspective. Visitors will be wowed by over 100 glass art objects created by contemporary Native American and Indigenous Pacific-Rim artists.
Clearly Indigenous: Native Visions Reimagined in Glass was originated by The Museum of Indian Arts and Culture, Santa Fe, New Mexico. The traveling exhibit was curated by Dr. Letitia Chambers and is toured by International Arts & Artists.
