1908 Streetcar Riots

Cost: No Charge - Reservations Required On January 1, 1908, the Muncie chapter of the Amalgamated Association of Street and Electric Railway Employees went on strike over unfair labor practices. On the first day, “Five persons were injured and two streetcars were riddled with stones.” The situation quickly turned violent and Muncie Mayor Leonidas Guthrie requested support from Indiana Governor Frank Hanly to restore order. Hanly instituted martial law in the city for several weeks. This presentation explores this unique event in Muncie’s history.

Prints, Poetry, Music! You are invited to the 4th Annual Printer Jam, this Friday, April 13th!
Location: Muncie Makes Lab, 628 S. Walnut Street, near the roundabout south of downtown.
Printer Jam is a student organized event that started as a living room print show and has evolved into an exciting "JAM" in the form of a downtown Muncie Arts event involving a collaboration of over 33 different printmakers, poets and musicians.
Events:
6 pm Art Exhibition and Reception (catering by Seasalt & Cinnamon)
7 pm Artist talk by Nate Russell, a printmaking, muralist, illustrator, and sculptor
8:30 Spoken word poetry
9:15 Live music by Kevin Krauter and The University QuintetAnyone looking for an exciting mix of the arts will enjoy Printer Jam!
