Both division winners receive cash prizes and are offered performance opportunity with the MSO.   The competition allows MSO to discover and showcase young rising talents. It also serves as encouragement and inspiration for any school age children who are learning an instrument to continue their practice.

Public is admitted free of charge to observe the competition. Concert étiquette is required, but you can leave/enter quietly during the competition in between the performances.
