What really happened the night of December 23, 1888, in the town of Arles? What was Van Gogh's state of mind? No one has been clear on the details until now. Bernadette Murphy, a researcher living in Provence, has spent five years piecing together a meticulous picture of his life.  In this PBS documentary, she uncovers evidence and pieces together a detailed timeline leading up to the night of the event, explaining the driving force behind the story that dominates art history.

Smedley Butler was a United States Marine Corps major general, the highest rank authorized at that time. At his death, he was the most decorated Marine in the U.S. Mr. Gill will discuss the interesting facts surrounding Butler’s life including why Herbert Hoover wanted to court-martial this two-time Medal of Honor recipient. 

Founded in 2004, the Yorktown-Mt. Pleasant Township Historical Alliance provides a physical destination for local history and artifacts to be displayed and enjoyed by the community. The museum contains vintage advertising, period clothing, tools, household items, business and organization records, photos, and much more. 

Mrs. Johnson will teach simplified techniques for creating a beautiful watercolor masterpiece from start to finish. Her professional experience enables her to teach novices as well as advanced painters in the same setting. You’ll  learn something new in each session, no matter your skill level. A suggested supply list will be provided upon enrollment. Each class is limited to 15 participants.

The roots of needlepoint go back thousands of years to the ancient Egyptians, who used small slanted stitches to sew up their canvas tents. Archaeologist Howard Carter, who is known for discovering King Tut’s tomb, found some needlepoint in the cave of a pharaoh who had lived around 1500 BC. Today, needlepoint offers a wide range of possibilities for self-expression.  In this class, you’ll learn the techniques and stitches necessary to finish the project provided in class. A painted canvas and supplies are provided.
