Summer Nights with the AHB Big Band

“Love Is In the Air” – jazz up your summer night on June 8 with the fabulous Big Band musicians from Muncie's own America's Hometown Band. This group of top-notch performers is led by jazz trumpeter pro Larry McWilliams, also a BSU music professor, emeritus. 

Enjoy this program of treasured love songs done right – plus beautiful vocals by special guest artist, Cozette Myers, professional vocalist from Indianapolis.

It's all Free & open to the public, with plenty of lawn seating space.

AHB Big Band Jazz on Minnetrista Blvd

  Big Band music is all about feelings of love - dreamy, exciting, lost & regained. This show brings passionate tunes of both joy & and heartbreak from the likes of the big names - Miller, Dorsey, Ellington, Basie, May, Strayhorn, Nestico. And this AHB group can really belt it out for the audience on the lawn of this beautiful Minnetrista Blvd setting.

    In case of rain, this event is canceled - previous rain location no longer available. 

AHB at Old Washington St Festival

   The full Concert Band from America’s Hometown Band is a traditional part of the Old Washington St. Festival – this year entertaining festival goers on Sunday the17th at 2 pm, from the bright red striped tent in the street at the intersection of E. Washington & Monroe. A free, public event.The audience chairs are under shade, too!

This Live outdoor concert by America’s Hometown Band players livens up July 4th in Muncie — at Minnetrista. Free & Open to all, lawn-chair seating. Enjoy a singalong , then isten for John Philip Sousa’s famous “Stars & Stripes Forever” at fireworks time!

 Bandleader & trumpet guru Larry McWilliams calls it “Swingin’ In the Trees”, as he & the very special Big Band group takes their ‘cool’ swing tunes & improv talents to the park … so they - and the audience - can, well, … have it made in the shade with the music of Basie, Ellington, Miller, Strayhorn, and more.    Former hometown Vocalist Myles Ogea revisits Muncie in July, and his vocal talents are really something to ‘croon’ about — especially when the America’s Hometown Band Concert Band plays for him. 
  Don’t miss the heart-felt lyrics of standards such as Come Fly with Me, Don’t Get Around Much Anymore, and I’ve Got You Under My Skin. No ticket needed, and lots of shaded lawn-chair space for your friends & family.

“Oh, the Places Music Takes Us”  is a bit of a time-travel concert mix of much-loved music … from a touch of Dixieland Jazz, to Michael Jackson tunes …  that’s sure to take you back to faces & places your heart remembers.              

   This AHB Concert Band program is open to the public, no ticket needed. Plenty of lawn-chair space, so bring friends & family.

   Vocalist for this concert is AHB songbird Mona Dale.  Meet us in the shade at Westside Park for this short trip to the theatre. No ticket needed, and lots of lawn chair space at 2400 W White River Parkway in Muncie.

Field of Flags closing ceremony & AHB

The AHB Concert Band plays prior to and during the closing of the week-long Field of Flags event staged annually on the Minnetrista greensward. This public program honors the sacrifices of the 9/11 victims & rescuers.

     Conductor & Music Director of East Central Indiana Chamber Orchestra— Isaac Denniston — invites you & your family to come experience the pulse of much loved tunes from time-honored composers such as —Leroy Anderson, Aaron Copland, and Joseph Hayden, plus a touch of the real rock band sound of The Beatles.

     Plan to beat a path to this LIVE on-stage performance set for Sat., March 22 at 7 pm.

    This family-friendly event is free and open to the public, plus ample free parking at MCHS.

Honoring the decades of tradition, service, and sacrifices of our USA military — AHB again accompanies the annual Muncie/Delaware County ceremony of remembrance & gratitude to every member of the USA military defense forces. 

1st Thursday - Canan Stage 5-6:30 pm

   The AHB Jazz Combo is at June’s ‘1st Thursday Arts Walk’ — As long as you’re appreciating the best of Muncie’s artists — be sure to walk on down to the Canan Commons stage, and jive to the jazz talents of Muncie saxophonist George Wolfe & combo players.
