  • Good trouble lives on: Muncie 5:30pm to 7pm @ Heekin Park (Meet at the Memory Spiral) 1797 S Hackley St, Muncie, IN 47302

Good Trouble Lives On is a national day of nonviolent action to respond to the attacks posed on our civil and human rights by the Trump administration and to remind them that in America, the power lies with the people.

On July 17, the anniversary of Congressman John Lewis’s passing, we’re taking action across the country to defend our democracy and carry forward his legacy of Good Trouble.

From voter suppression bills like the SAVE Act to the criminalization of protest, the Trump administration is launching a full-scale attack on our civil and human rights. But we know the truth: in America, the power lies with the people, and we’re rising to prove it.

This is more than a rally; it’s a moral reckoning. A continuation of the movement Lewis helped lead, and a new front in the struggle for freedom.

Please note: A core principle behind our Good Trouble Lives On actions is a commitment to nonviolence in all we do. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values.

  • Protecting Public Schools from Religious Influence 6pm to 8pm @ Unitarian Universalist Church of Muncie 4800 W Bradford Dr

Join us on Thursday, October 2nd, from 6-8 PM at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Muncie to hear speakers from the Secular Education Association discuss religious encroachment in public schools. These Indiana advocates will share about current threats to inclusive and secular education, legislative background, the impact on students and communities, and how we can protect students and support teachers on the local level. If you're concerned about school hours bible study programs, ideological and biased curriculum, or bullying and division in schools, you'll want to attend this event! There will be ample time for Q&A included after the presentation, and ways to sign up to stay informed or volunteer to help advocate for our schools. This event is open to the community; families and educators from all local school systems are encouraged to attend!

Who is the Secular Education Association? We are a focused movement of concerned parents, families, community members and tax payers who respect the separation of church and state. We respect each other’s different religions, family values, and parental rights. We love our children. We want them to learn unhindered by religious pressure or coercion.

We are committed to upholding the separation of church and state in public education by providing oversight, information and advocacy to engage our communities. Our goal is to ensure that all children have access to an equitable education, grounded in evidence-based principles, academic integrity and respect for diversity in a secular learning environment.
