27 past events with the nonfiction writing tag

Writing will come to life from 7:30 to 9:00 p.m. tonight in Bracken Library Room 104 at the third annual Undergraduate Writers Gala. Twenty students will present original works in fiction, nonfiction and poetry. After the student presentations, everyone who attends can participate in a round robin haiku contest. Prizes will be provided. “The purpose is to showcase undergraduate talent inside and out of the department and allow them to compete and get their work out there,” said Tyler Gobble, president of the Writers Community of Ball State. The Student Government Association and the Writers Community are co-sponsoring the event. This is the first year for their partnership. Last year 65 students attended, but Gobble said he’s hoping to see 75 people there this year. Free food will also be provided.

Mark Massé of the Journalism Department and Jill Christman of the English Department will read essays published in the latest issue of River Teeth: A Journal of Nonfiction Narrative.

Mary Miller's short story collection, Big World, was published in February 2009 by Short Flight/Long Drive Books.

Kao Kalia Yang's first memoir, The Latehomecomer: A Hmong Family Memoir, was published by Coffee House Press in 2009.

Matt Bell Matt Bell is the author of a forthcoming fiction collection, How They Were Found (Keyhole, Fall 2010). He is also the editor of The Collagist and the series editor of Dzanc's Best of the Web anthology series.

Mark Zupan, author of this year's Freshman Common Reader "Gimp" and star of the award winning documentary "Murderball," will present in Emens Auditorium on Tuesday September 28th at 7:30pm. The event is free and open to the public.

Please join us for the sixth annual In Print Festival of First Books, featuring authors Debra Gwartney, Paul Killebrew, Tina May Hall, and author and editor Tadd Adcox. These writers will read from their books of poetry, fiction and nonfiction, and share their knowledge about writing and publishing. Both events will be followed by a reception and booksigning. The In Print Festival is free and open to the public.
