It’s time, Muncie! 🎁 The 2022 HOLIDAY GIFT MARKET, presented by the Muncie Makers Market, is kicking off the Winter shopping season and we invite you to celebrate with us! The next BIG event for the Muncie Makers Market is the Holiday Gift Market coming up SOON on December 1st, during December’s First Thursday, from 5-8p. There will be fun events all over Downtown Muncie that evening which are sponsored by the Muncie Downtown Development Partnership, and we are excited to be at the heart of it all! Every December’s First Thursday is branded as Light Up DWNTWN and we intend to show up BRIGHT and MERRY!

The Holiday Gift Market showcases local business and will feature a HUGE set-up with over FIFTY Vendors, all with handmade creations, homemade goodies, locally grown plants, and SO MUCH MORE! We’ll even have Gift Wrapping available from the Community of Hope fundraiser! Join your community at Light Up DWNTWN for a really fun evening of shopping in a fabulous environment - there is a three floor atrium above our heads and plenty of FREE parking right up to the door! YART began in Muncie, Indiana with students at Ball State University and continues here and in several U.S. cities - a Muncie original! The Muncie YART is now held Downtown, at Canan Commons, twice a year, Spring and Fall, and coincides with ArtsWalk. The Spring 2023 Muncie YART is scheduled for the evening of Thursday, June 1st!

This community art sale, with a goal of making art affordable and accessible to everyone, brings together Artists and Art patrons in a casual and unique setting. The Spring 2023 Muncie YART will be held in conjunction with the 2023 Brink of Summer ArtsWalk on Thursday, June 1st, from 5-8p. All forms of Art are welcome at YART! Art of all kinds, by all kinds of Artists! YART encourages interaction between Artists and the community, hoping to make Art more accessible, especially to those who think they cannot afford to buy Art for themselves and their homes. To this goal, all YART Art will be priced below $40! YART works to enable local creative entrepreneurs and to improve the Muncie economy. Shop local, support independents, enjoy your town! 

The last YART featured over 150 Artists! Each YART Artist will be present throughout YART to meet the public, discuss their Art, handle sales personally, and some Artists will be making Art LIVE at YART! This is a great opportunity to enjoy your family interacting with local culture in a dynamic, lively, and relaxed atmosphere.

Gordy Fine Art & Framing Company is proud to highlight the art of graphic artist John Morris during the First Thursday Gallery Walk - TOTAL SOLAR ECLIPSE Edition. The artist will be on hand. Light refreshments will be served, and the public is invited to attend. At 6:15, John will speak about his work and his process. 

John Morris’s art builds a conversation between the digital world and the actual world. His works are built in stages by first designing digital collages from comic book images and then meticulously recreating them as real collages with physical clippings. When that is complete, he then translates the composition into its final iteration using Perler Beads. This process mimics the action of flattening a digital file and highlights the value Morris places on manual labor in the digital age through the labor-intensive use of beads,

The exhibit will remain on view through April 27.

Steven Spielberg set his film Close Encounters of the Third Kind in Muncie Indiana. Gordy is supporting an effort to place a large scale bronze sculpture of the Devil's Tower in Muncie as a public landmark on the 50th Anniversary of the movie in 2027!

This Hoosier project is based on the historical Chitlin Circuit that sprouted during the period of Jim Crow segregation. African American performers weren’t allowed to share a stage with white performers, so a network of live entertainment venues in the US emerged that catered to black audiences and black entertainers. The PuICC facilitates and shares the pride and verve of the historical entertainers that burgeoned (bur-jn) African American entertainment throughout America.

With the PuICC, three poets collaborate, creating an atmosphere of artistic excitement, all three sharing the mic, taking turns reading a piece of poetry inspired by the last piece of poetry read. Each poet feeds off the other, not knowing what to read until that VERY moment. This magical round-robin of sorts goes on for about 20 minutes. We will take a small break and then each poet gets a solo set of about 10 minutes. As a group each, our poets read a poem by lucille clifton – line by line.

This is unlike any poetry event you have been a part of and it is likely VERY different than what you’ve seen or been audience to! We are excited for you to experience this with our very own Indiana State Poet Laureate, Curtis L. Crisler, and two of our local poets, Cuplets Host, Abigayle Devendorf, and Gayle Radwick!
