5 Past Events at Academy of Model Aeronautics

Come celebrate National Model Aviation Day at the International Aeromodeling Center. The AMA Foundation will be hosting Aviation Adventure Day on Aug. 17 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event is free for a full day of aviation fun. The kids can also try flying a model airplane. The National Model Aviation Museum will host Hops and Props on September 28th from 5pm-8pm. This adult-only event is a great opportunity to visit the museum after hours and experience the museum like few have before! For just $15, every attendee receives dinner and a beer provided by local brewery. You’ll also gain access to the museum and receive a model airplane to build and fly!

The proceeds from the event will go towards the Museum in a Box outreach program. This program allows elementary school teachers to check out boxes filled with STEM education activities.

Over 250 competitors from 30 countries compete in 4 different categories of control line model aviation: speed, combat, racing, and stunt. Qualifying rounds begin August 13th and champions are declared August 17th. Flying begins at 8 AM and usually continues into the early afternoon. There is no fee to spectate.
