Main Street

MFD Fire Department Museum
The Muncie Fire Department Museum will be open for tours. The museum includes artifacts, equipment and pictures that cover the history of the fire department for the city of Muncie.

Gallery 308
This two–man show titled “Conversations and After/Life” is a collection of fine art photography.  This exhibit features two award-winning artists, Alfredo Marin Carle and Ryan Sparrow.  Both artists are faculty in the Department of Journalism at Ball State University teaching visual journalism classes.  Marin-Carle and Sparrow earned the gallery exhibit when they captured Best of Show and first place awards respectively from Gallery’s 308’s Paperchaser 2012 juried exhibition.  Marin-Carle took top honors for his self-portrait, “Introspection”. 

Gordy Fine Art and Framing
Style show by Pat Nelson and Ann Baddeley Keister entitled: “Putting it All Together:  Invention, Appropriation, Transformation, Elaboration,” The show will feature wearable garments designed and sewn by Ann using recycled Japanese kimono fabrics. Pat’s jewelry pieces of mixed metals, vitreous enamel, stones and some fabric were  made as the garments were under construction, “allowing for much give and take” between the two artists during the process.”  Runway shows will be at 5:30 PM and 6:30 PM with limited seating.

Muncie Civic Theatre
Performance pieces from the upcoming show “Dreamgirls” featuring Muncie’s own broadway and motion picture actress, Cynda Williams!

Downtown Farm Stand
Series of "farmscapes" by Kishel Photography taken at some of the the farms who’s products are regularly represented at the Farm Stand.  Deli will be open with  beer and wine available for purchase.

The Living Room
"In this series of paintings Michael May has been depicting experiments developed by a fictional harmless lunatic. The picture plane is split into segments, each showing a different stage in the experiment. By moving from segment to segment the viewer is able to unpack the experiment piece by piece."

Carnegie Library Art
Discover amazing art and artifacts inside Carnegie Library. Enjoy the building’s classical architecture including a stained glass dome, historical maps, and a commanding original painting by J. Ottis Adams of Wheeling Pike as it Appeared in 1891.
Also on display is a collection of vases, sculptures, carved treasures, and more from Taiwan, China, Korea, Japan, Kazakhstan, and South Korea. These treasures were gifts to the City of Muncie during economic development visits and have been archived and documented by Muncie Public Library. These items are displayed periodically for all to discover and enjoy!

Beeson draws inspiration for his paintings from issues concerning graduating college students. Diaz repurposes vintage National Geographic imagery to create new work usually incorporating text

The Artist Within
“Thirteen Artists Within” showcases the artwork of the thirteen very creative and talented artists whose work is sold through the Artist Within’s gift shop: Bette Graham, David Calvin, Leslie Blair, Chic Ebert Velazco, Lynette Whitesell, Barbara Houck, Bill Cox, Cindy Turner, Gary Huggler, Eugene Boyd, Karen Fisher, Toren Scott and Bob Hartley.
Light refreshments, music by Bryce Taylor and an opportunity to meet the artists with potter’s wheel throwing demonstrations by resident potter Toren Scott and representatives from the BSU Ceramics Department and their Potters’ Guild.

Muncie Young Professionals
Presenting, Candy Chang’s “Before I Die” project. This project is a global public art project that invites people to reflect on their lives and share their personal aspirations in public space. MYP will have a 7' x 16' chalkboard on display for the public to write their own personal messages about their life's dreams.

High Street United Methodist Church
Numerous stained glass windows, 15 paintings of a religious nature, including "Adoration of the Shepherds" (circa 1720-1730) by Francesco Cavaliere Trevisani (also known as Romano), and a tapestry "Birth of the Virgin" by an unknown artist (circa 1525-1550). Visitors should enter through the main (east) entrance.

BSU School of Art
Video students will be presenting Spectacle and Illusion: Projection in Public Space.  Eight students will activate a variety of public buildings and spaces throughout downtown with site specific video.  Projection will begin at sunset.
Artists include: Marie Boedeker, Chad Copeland, Eileen Costello, Tyler Gater, Amanda Knigga, Melissa Livermore, Kristina Powell, Shelby Sanders

Southside Marching Band
Students will be playing “Boom Whacks” in various locations.

Blue Sky Carnival Band
The band will parade in the streets at 7:00pm as we march to Canan Commons for the “Rebirth Brass Band” Performance!  Join the party!

TEMPORAL SYNAPSE at PROJECTiONE
PROJECTiONE is a design collaborative led by artists Adam Buente and Kyle Perry, both residents of Muncie, IN. Founded in 2009.  Their most recent project “Temporal Synapse” was designed to inhabit 6 elevator lobbies in the Sidney & Lois Eskenazi Hospital on Wishard Health’s newest campus. More than 18 months in the making, “Temporal Synapse” is due to be installed before the end of October. Eager to share their most recent endeavor with Muncie, Buente and Perry will open their shop located at 612 S. Elm Street. to the public.  Several of the completed “Temporal Synapse” walls will be operational and on exhibit for the first time alongside past projects and prototypes.
