The Spring 2017 Muncie YART

Madjax Muncie
514 East Jackson Street
Muncie, Indiana – YART is Coming!
YART is a Yard Sale for Art! YART began in Muncie, Indiana with students at Ball State University and continues in several U.S. cities! The Muncie YART is now held in Downtown, twice a year, Spring and Fall, on the First Thursday of every May and October.
The Spring 2017 Muncie YART will be held on the same date as the First Thursday Gallery Walk, at Muncie's wonderful makerspace, MadJax, on the corner of Madison and Jackson Streets in Downtown Muncie, Indiana, on Thursday, May 4th, from 5-9pm.
This community art sale, with a goal of making art affordable and accessible to everyone, brings together artists and art patrons in a casual and unique setting.
All forms of art are welcome! Art of all kinds, by all kinds of artists! YART encourages interaction between artists and the community, hoping to make art more accessible, especially to those who think they cannot afford to buy art for themselves. To this goal, all YART art will be priced below $40!
Each YART Artist will be present throughout YART to meet the public, discuss their art, handle sales personally, and some artists will be making art LIVE at YART!
The Spring 2017 Muncie YART will feature a wide variety of jewelry, clothing, photography, oil/acrylic/watercolor paintings, fused glass, ceramics, knits, pottery, candles, toys, drawings, sculpture, lampwork glass, stuffed animals, digital art, mosaics, the Midwest Writer's Workshop's Poems While You Wait, Mystical Harp, LIVE ART and LIVE MUSIC, and so much more!
Fun for all ages - YART is for the whole family!
Miss Moth (Director of the Muncie YART) and the YART Artists very much thank Jennifer Greene of MadJax/Co:Lab, Kim & Rob Miller of Tribune Showprint, and Cheryl Crowder of the Muncie Downtown Development Partnership for their generous support! YART is an all-volunteer, no-budget, community event. THANK YOU!

The Two-Town Theater auditions for My Three Angels
6:30pm to 8:30pm @
Madjax Muncie
514 East Jackson Street
The Two-Town Theater Company has announced auditions for “My Three Angels,” the company’s second production. Auditions are 1-4 p.m. Sunday at the New Castle-Henry County Library, 376 S. 15th St., New Castle. Auditions continue from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at Madjax, 514 E. Jackson St., Muncie.
“My Three Angels,” a comedy by Sam and Bella Spewak, is set at Christmastime in French Guiana in 1910. A family who runs a small shop is in dire straits because a mercenary uncle who owns the shop is arriving with intentions to close the business. Three inmates, trustees from Devil’s Island who are repairing the roof, assist the family with a series of unorthodox methods so that eventually, good triumphs over evil, romance flourishes and the shop remains intact.
The comedy was written in the 1950s and starred Walter Slezak in the role of Joseph, one of the three convicts. The play ran for over a year and a half on Broadway, a very good run for a non-musical. Since then, the play has been a staple for theaters across the country, especially during the holiday season.
There are roles for seven men and three women. The male roles require actors from their early 20s (one convict, the young lover, and a late arrival) and actors upward in age to include a father, a very difficult uncle and two other convicts. The roles for women are for one young woman in her late teens or early 20s, her mother and a busy shopper who could be any age.
Performances will be Dec. 7-10 at Madjax in Muncie and Dec. 13 and 15-17 at the New Castle Henry-County Public Library.

The Art of Getting Crafty at Guardian Brewing Co.
6pm to 7:30pm @
Madjax Muncie
514 East Jackson Street
Cost: $20 per person Ages: 21+ In this workshop, we'll be making a holiday décor piece centered around an arrangement of origami fir trees. You will learn how to fold your own wonderful little fir trees and arrange them in a glass jar with different colored and textured materials to simulate the ground, the grass, and the snow. A focus on design keeps this project classy and challenges participants to look at how color, texture, size, and arrangement can change a simple craft into an elegant, decorative piece. After this workshop, you will also be able to easily and quickly fold a fir tree out of almost any kind and size of square paper. These are great to use as easy holiday décor or as embellishments on holiday packages. They are also addictive to make and quite fun to teach to your family and friends.
This workshop will be at Guardian Brewing Co, located at Madjax 514 E Jackson Street. The workshop is $20 per person to attend and includes one free drink. This workshop is open to ages 21 and up.Jan 11, 2018
