The gallery owned by Pheobe Wantz, will show the work of local artists as well as artists from around the globe. The grand opening will feature the works of the gallery Artistic Director and Curator, Michael DuQuette; a collection of selected pieces from Tanglevine Crossing; Ann Johnson, former owner of F.B. Fogg, clothing and gift items; Rosemary Gard, of Chicago, vintage jewelry creations, and much more. Hye-Sook Jee is the artist in residence. The First Thursday Opening Reception - "Art Makes Dick and Jane Smart" at Art & Soul by Phoebe Gallery on September 2, 2010, at 5-9pm will have a window theme focusing on the importance of the arts in school. Once again the mannequins will tell a story, in their own way, through dramatic, painting and musical arts. The "featured artist" this month is the gifted and talented local artist, Susie Morgan. She will be showing out her collection of beautiful art work which she has named, "Postcards from home...scenes from Old Muncie." The Gallery is welcoming several new artists this month (one from Pennsylvania) in addition to new works by returning artists, both local, national, and international. A special spotlight is going to be shown this month on Tanglevine Crossing of Farmland, Indiana. Although Tanglevine has shown some specialty items at the Gallery since we opened, this month the Gallery has brought in even more than ever before for the Muncie patrons to enjoy. Tanglevine is known for the uniqueness of their gift items, and you will not be disappointed at this month's gallery display of new and different things you will not see anywhere else. Thank you, Tanglevine, for sharing them with us for the month. This will be your first chance to see our new Art Studio. We will begin our art, dramatic, and jewelry making classes in September, and this is where it all will happen. This is a new adventure for us, and you will be the first to share our excitement. In addition, Tanglevine Crossing will be catering this month's event, and our Host will be on hand to serve you wine. Phil Dunn will be at the keyboard to play music and sing a few songs.

Kimberly Estes, a gifted and talented artist, and "featured artist" at Art & Soul by Phoebe Gallery in June, will offer Oil Painting classes at the Gallery starting in September 8, 2010.

These classes will begin on September 8, at 6-8pm in the new Art Studio at the Gallery established just this month. Kim has asked that each new student bring their favorite landscape photograph. They will begin their painting on the 8th. There will be no class on the 15th, giving the students time to work on their paintings. Then they will meet again on the 22nd to finish up their projects.

Supplies needed are: Oil paints: primary, secondary, black and white; canvas, no larger than 24x36; a palette; thinner and rags; and a pencil.

Rosemary Gard, nationally recognized jewelry designer, will visit Muncie with her jewelry for a Trunk Show for one day only. Rosemary designs one-of-a-kind beautiful, unique handcrafted pieces of jewelry from vintage jewelry that she collects. Oprah Winfrey owns one of her designs.
