The Atrium Gallery

The School of Art is proud to present the BEGINNINGS 2018 Student Art Exhibition in the Atrium Gallery, open until Saturday, July 21. The gallery will have Extended Hours on June 7th for First Thursday art events in downtown Muncie, until 8 PM. This exhibition is free and open to the public.

This exhibition focuses on the amazing work done by First Year students in the School of Art during the 2017-2018 academic year. This exhibit is a great chance to see the exciting drawings, designs, and sculptures being made by some of the School of Art's newest artists!

Atrium Gallery hours are Monday - Friday 9:00 am - 4:00 pm and Saturdays 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm. Closed Sundays and all Ball State breaks and holidays.

Cornerstone Center for the Arts

“Bad Art Night” at Cornerstone: Join Cornerstone Center for the Arts on Thursday, June 7, from 6:00 to 7:30 pm for Bad Art Night at Cornerstone. Leave your talent at the door and create your best disasterpiece at this free event. Bad Art Night encourages attendees to create the tackiest, ugliest, and most ridiculous artwork with a chance to win prizes. Bad Art Night on First Thursday will take place in Studio A on the second floor of Cornerstone Center for the Arts.

This event is co-hosted by Muncie Public Library and Cornerstone Center for the Arts. Bad Art Night is a monthly workshop that rotates between the locations of Cornerstone Center for the Arts and Maring Hunt Library.

The Fickle Peach (21+)

“After Hours Art Reels”: Muncie Downtown Development in partnership with The Fickle Peach, presents After Hours Art Reels following the First Thursday Gallery Walks June through September. Come enjoy the gallery exhibits from 5-8pm, and join us afterwards at dusk for these great film classics!

Films will be projected onto the Mutual Bank wall on Charles Street at dusk. Seating will be available on the Fickle Peach patio area located at 117 E. Charles St. for guests who are 21 and up. Viewers who are not yet 21 can watch the films from the sidewalk surrounding the patio area.

The first film of the season will be Pink Floyd’s “The Wall”. In advance of the screening, local talent “The Meanies” will play two special sets of Pink Floyd classics on the Fickle Peach patio.

Art It's The Way You Are "LOVE" series 1, Momma Knows Best series 2, "Please Don't Do Coke In Our Bathroom,” and "Patterns & Words" series 1 is the June 7th First Thursday gallery exhibit by local artist Debra Gindhart at Madjax Muncie. Paintings in aerosols and acrylics using altered thrift store art and redirected art techniques. Debra also includes her line of recycled jewelry Green Glam Studio in her 2nd floor studio. Meet the artist from 5-8pm and enjoy light refreshments.

Barbara and Carl Schafer invite you to come share a glass of wine or a soft drink with the staff of Gordy Fine Art & Framing Company from 5-8pm.     

During the First Thursday party and throughout the month of June, we will feature works of art by more than 25 East Central Indiana artists including many of our personal favorites.  The event is open to the public and light refreshments will be served giving customers the opportunity to buy unique objects created by local artists.

Prices range from $1 to $2,000, with most falling between $30 to $200. From whimsical “Funcie” signs and shirts to handcrafted mugs and plates. Paintings capturing Indiana’s rural landscapes in various media to handbound journals and letterpress cards. 

The show will run throughout June and July with new works continually added to replace things that are purchased and removed.

Gordy Fine Art and Framing Company promotes talented artists and offers expert design and craftsmanship for framing and displaying treasured family possessions and works of art. Start your summer with some great music. At 7:30pm, Joan Hamilton, recording artist, guitar player and singer will perform at Grace Episcopal Church (corner of Madison and Adams). Joan is currently living in Indy but Muncie is her hometown. There will be CD’s of Joan’s music for sale at the concert.  There will be snacks and drinks for your enjoyment. All donations will go to Wild Card Cafe, a program to support BSU students through Grace Village.

Savages will have Angie Ridge Hedman hanging art. Her show is called “Patterns.” She used mixes of acrylic and vintage dress patterns.

Tribune Showprint will be open and giving shop tours. One press will be inked and ready to have our guest pull a print.
