“Facing Addiction” in Delaware County is coming to Cornerstone Center for the Arts in Muncie at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, April 12.

“Facing Addiction” is part of the Facing Project, a nonprofit that works to connect people through stories to strengthen communities throughout the nation. Thirteen students in Ball State University’s Ingelhart Scholars Program have organized this project, and their year-long efforts will culminate in this event.

Stories of those impacted by addiction in the greater Delaware County area will be showcased to not only increase awareness of the issue, but encourage those who may be struggling to seek help.

Meridian Health Services, an organization in Delaware County available for those struggling with addiction, will be at the event to offer resources and answer questions. Meridian Health Services has generously made “Facing Addiction” possible by their ongoing support and sponsorship.

Attendees will also have the opportunity to interact with a panel of community leaders, such as Aimee Fant, Muncie Action Plan Coordinator, Amanda Whitten, Clinical Supervisor at Meridian Health Services, Dr. Kornilow, staff physician at Meridian Health Services, Mike Mueller of Muncie Police Department, Krista Hoevel of the Youth Opportunity Center and Jeff Arnold, Delaware County Prosecutor. Those who attend will receive a book highlighting stories shared at the event along with guides to addiction-related resources across Indiana.

Cornerstone Center for the Arts is located at 520 E Main St. in Muncie, Indiana. Admission is free to the public. For more information, contact Lindsey Sharp at lindseydelainesharp@gmail.com.
