2025 Conference on Civic Studies & Democracy
September 25–27, 2025 | L.A. Pittenger Student Center Ballroom, Ball State University
Ball State University invites the campus and community to the 2025 Conference on Civic Studies & Democracy, a three-day event exploring the theme Character, Aesthetics, and Community: The Interplay Between Community, Art, Politics, and Civic Identity.
Schedule Highlights
Thursday, September 25 | 5:00–7:30 PM – Opening Reception and the Fred Meyer Lecture in Cultural Policy & Arts Advocacy featuring keynote speaker Michael Greer, President & CEO of ArtsFund and the first African American dancer at Ballet West.
Friday, September 26 | 9:00 AM–4:00 PM – Concurrent sessions and workshops on civic education, arts, media, business, planning, and democratic life, led by Ball State faculty, students, and community partners.
Saturday, September 27 | 9:00 AM–1:00 PM – Closing panels and community dialogues, with participation from Muncie Community Schools and a student art display.
The conference is free and open to the public and offers opportunities for educators, students, and community members to engage with pressing questions about democracy, culture, and civic life.
