Torch Relay, Indiana Bicentennial

Passing through all 92 counties in Indiana, the Bicentennial Torch Relay will move through Delaware County on Tuesday, September 27 from 9:00 am till noon. The live fire Torch will be carried by 24 locally-chosen Torch Bearers. The Torch will be lit at the Delaware County Fairgrounds at 9:00 and will be handed off to Randolph County on Highway 32 East at noon. Be sure to see the route map on line at www.in.gov/ibc/ and cheer on your favorite Torch Bearer. To volunteer for the event, call Nancy Carlson, local coordinator at 765-760-2603 or ncarlson@bsu.edu.

Cornerstone will also host two workshops mapping Muncie’s past. The classes are entitled: Dear Muncie: Mapping Muncie History Using 19th Century Diaries and Happy Birthday, Indiana: Mapping 200 Years of Indiana History. The first Dear Muncie workshop will take a closer look at a few former Muncie residents’ diaries. This workshop will be at 6 p.m. September 27 at Cornerstone. The second will explore Muncie’s maps throughout the years. This workshop will be at 6 p.m. November 16. These workshops are free to attend.

Cost: FREE for over 21, $5 under 21 Every Tuesday is Be Here Now's Open Mic Night! Join us as we showcase local Muncie talent, whether it be music, comedy, poetry, rap, or anything that would warrant mic time!
And if you want to be on our stage, come in at 9pm when the sign up sheet makes its first appearance and jot your name down on it! Easy enough right!?
