    This non-credit, personal enrichment course meets six Tuesdays, March 6-April 10, 4-5:30 p.m.

    Infectious diseases touch the lives of everyone. Whether it's something as minor as the common cold or as serious as Ebola, we all have grappled with infections. This DVD series, produced by The Great Courses, will provide a comprehensive overview of diseases from the mundane to the fatal with renowned physician and award-winning professor Dr. Barry Fox of the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Medicine and Public Health. 

    Topics Covered (two, 30-minute lectures per class):
    March 6: Food-Borne Illness: What’s Your Gut Feeling?; and Respiratory and Brain Infections
    March 13: Flesh-Eating Bacteria and Blood Poisoning; STDs and Other Infections Below the Belt
    March 20: Stay Out of the Hospital!; and The Nemesis of Mankind: HIV and AIDS
    March 27: Malaria and Tuberculosis: Global Killers; and Global Travel, War, and Natural Disasters 
    April 3: Influenza: Past and Future Threat; Bioterrorism: How Worried Should We Be?
    April 10: Emerging and Reemerging Diseases; and Outbreak! Contagion! The Next Pandemic!
