- Middletown, USA 7:30pm to 12:42pm @ Muncie Central High School 801 N. Walnut St., Muncie, IN 47305
Commemorating Indiana’s bicentennial, Masterworks Chorale presents a world premiere musical event celebrating Muncie as:
Middletown, USA
7:30 p.m., Saturday May 14, 2016, at Muncie Central High School, 801 N. Walnut St., Muncie, IN 47305.
For this occasion, Masterworks Chorale commissioned composer Marjorie Rusche to write a new cantata for chorus and orchestra.
Middletown Chronicles: The Making of Middletown, America, gives musical voice to native voices of Muncie’s past and present: words drawn from letters, diaries, books and interviews of Muncie residents.
The audience will experience Muncie as Middletown through music, spoken words, and visual images provided by The Center for Middletown Studies and the Archives and Special Collections, Ball State University Libraries.
Masterworks Chorale has also partnered with Motivate Our Minds to share the Middletown history and experience with a group of local students. On May 14 these 4th and 5th graders will exhibit their own art in response to their perceptions of Middletown.
In order to ensure that the “Middletown USA” event is accessible to all members of our community, tickets are free.
