Local physician John “Doc” Peterson celebrates the release of his long-awaited book, "The True-Life Adventures of Captain Wa Wah: Fifty Years of Music, Meditation and Politics" with a Release Party from 7:30-10pm on November 6th, 2009 at Doc’s Music Hall located at 215 S. Walnut St. Music will be provided by Peterson, Simmons, and Dunn. Refreshments as well as a cash bar will also be available. There is no charge for admission, but is limited to guests 21+. Books will be available for purchase at the time of the even. Each book includes an audio recording of 10 stories read by Dr. Peterson and set to his music. Please help celebrate this noted occasion with a respected member of the Muncie community. From “The True-Life Adventures of Captain Wa Wah”: “Around here, in Indiana, I’m known as Dr. John or just “Doc.” In my college days in Iowa, I was known as Captain Wa Wah. Through these stories, I’ve re-framed some of my memories; the music of the 60s, playing keyboard in an almost-made-it band, recording at the Old Chess Studios and Universal Studios in Chicago, opening for Sonny and Cher, the Beach Boys, and the Doors...Vietnam, the Chicago 7 trial, the Civil Rights Movement, Watergate, Patty Hearst and the SLA, the Maharishi, the Nuclear Freeze Movement, Women’s Liberation, Orville K. Snav, and, finally, Doc’s Music Hall with listings of all the musicians who have performed there since 1992...plus a slew of cool friends and acquaintances along the way. I hope you enjoy the ride.” Please contact Kim Gillenwater at 765-760-1119 or at kim@captainwawah.com for further information on this event.
